5 Great Films You Haven’t Seen

Brigsby Bear (2017)

Kyle Mooney (Saturday Night Live) wrote and starred in this vastly overlooked indie film about a man who is trying to join a world he doesn’t understand while working through issues from his childhood. It’s a strange ride; but definitely one you don’t want to miss.

Paterson (2016)

Jim Jarmusch (Broken Flowers) wrote and directed this indie drama. Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) stars as Paterson a poet/bus driver in Paterson, New Jersey, who is looking for the beauty around him in the city he calls home.  The film follows Paterson’s life for a week as he observes the people and places around him. There is not really a major plot line to this film; but it plays like a slow poem.

Short Term 12 (2013)

This drama stars Brie Larsen (Room) as a counselor at a state-run house for at-risk youth. She tries to process through her own issues while helping kids deal with their own. This film explores difficult issues while being true to the story that it tells.

Submarine (2010)

Richard Ayoade (The I.T. Crowd) wrote and directed this magnificent coming of age awkward rom-com about a boy falling in love with a girl he doesn’t really understand. The soundtrack to this film is amazing and the humor hits you at every turn in a way you wouldn’t expect.

A Futile And Stupid Gesture (2018)

This film is the story of Douglas Kenney; a comedy writer who was fearless and set the stage for comedy as we know it today. We follow him as he starts The National Lampoon and writes hit films (Animal House and Caddyshack). We get to see his growing pains and what he gave up for success in the industry that he loved. Will Forte (Nebraska) and Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina) lead the incredible cast.
